Social Security Disability, “SSD”, is awarded based on an individual’s past earnings, when he or she last worked, and their relevant medical history. Special attention and a review of Social Security publications also may be necessary to show that your illness, or a combination of ailments, qualify you for benefits. If the medical condition itself does not meet the listing criteria, an individual still may qualify for benefits if he or she lacks a residual work capacity.
